I'm posting this note because I get quite a few emails and phone calls from people looking for information on Nirman, an organization working in the field of education and development in Varanasi, India.
Unfortunately, I am no longer associated with the Nirman organization. For several years I had problems with Nirman regarding reimbursement, my missing computer equipment, their use of my code without permission, and their lack of professionalism. I formally stopped working with the organization in 2004, and cut all communication with the organization the following year.
If you're trying to get in touch with Nirman, I don't really know where to point you; I know that Dr. Nita Kumar, the director of the organization, left the U. of Michigan at Ann Arbor and moved to California a year or so ago (I believe to accept a tenured position at Claremont McKenna College). Beyond that, I don't have any forwarding information for her or for the organization.
I'm no longer handling the development of their website(s), and presumably their new site should appear in Google soon.
As of 2/8/2007, it's been well over a year that Nirman has been using my website design code without permission and without attributing my work.
